Have you ever experienced something that you simply could not explain?

Perhaps a familiar scent when nobody else was present. A sudden feeling that someone was standing beside you. A name appearing in your thoughts, an unexpected image, or an overwhelming sense of knowing something without understanding quite how you knew.

For many, these moments are fleeting.

They are questioned, dismissed or attributed to imagination.

Yet within my own spiritual work, communication with Spirit can take many forms, extending far beyond what we ordinarily recognise through our five human senses.

And I would like to share a little more of how I experience this.

Understanding the Clairs

The word clair refers to clarity, and within psychic and mediumistic practice, the clairs describe different ways of receiving intuitive or spiritual impressions.

As a Psychic Medium and Seer, I work through all of these senses.

Clairvoyance — Clear Seeing

This is the experience of receiving visual impressions.

I may see people, places, objects, events or symbolic imagery. Sometimes these impressions are remarkably detailed, whilst at other times they unfold gradually as communication develops.

Clairaudience — Clear Hearing

The experience of receiving words, names, sounds or messages through an inner sense of hearing.

This is not necessarily the same as hearing a physical voice within the room.

Clairsentience — Clear Feeling

One of the most extraordinary aspects of mediumship, in my experience.

I may sense emotions, changes in energy, physical sensations or impressions associated with another person’s experience.

At times, I experience pressure, discomfort or pain within my own body that I interpret as information a communicating Spirit wishes me to understand.

This may form part of how I describe someone’s physical condition or the circumstances surrounding their passing.

Claircognizance — Clear Knowing

An immediate understanding without a conscious process of reasoning.

Sometimes information simply arrives as a certainty, without first being presented through an image, sound or sensation.

Clairalience — Clear Smelling

The perception of scents without an identifiable physical source.

Perfume, tobacco, flowers, cooking or another familiar scent may, within a reading, become meaningful to the person receiving the communication.

Clairgustance — Clear Tasting

The experience of an unexpected taste without having physically consumed anything associated with it.

This can sometimes form part of the information I receive.

Remote Viewing and Physical Spiritual Experiences

My work also involves experiences that are not always adequately described by the familiar clair categories.

Remote viewing is one of them.

I may receive detailed impressions of a home, room, building or physical environment that I am not presently visiting.

Although remote viewing can overlap with clairvoyance, I distinguish it within my work because of the particular way I experience locations and surroundings beyond my immediate physical environment.

I also experience what I interpret as Spirit’s presence through touch, pressure, changes in bodily sensation and shifts in energy.

These experiences can be subtle or remarkably pronounced.

And they are not necessarily confined to one spiritual sense at a time.

Several forms of impression may unfold together, building a fuller understanding of the communication.

Who Chooses How Spirit Communicates?

There is something particularly important I wish to explain.

It is not always I who determines which clair will be used.

Very often, within my experience, it is the Spirit who comes forward who influences the manner in which our communication unfolds.

I understand each Spirit as an individual soul, carrying their own experiences, personality and continuing spiritual development beyond their human incarnation.

I believe the time they have spent as a Spirit entity, what they have learned and the methods of communication they find most natural can influence how they choose to reach me.

One may communicate predominantly through images.

Another may present words, sounds, scents or physical impressions.

Others may communicate through several of my clairs simultaneously.

And this is why two readings, even with the same medium, may unfold quite differently.

Mediumship, as I experience it, is not simply a demonstration of psychic ability. It is a relationship of communication between individual souls.

One that requires understanding, sensitivity, trust and discernment.

The Importance of Discernment

I also believe it is essential to acknowledge that not every unexplained sensation is necessarily Spirit.

Our minds, emotions, memories and physical senses are extraordinary in their own right.

A familiar smell may have a physical explanation. A dream may reflect our thoughts and experiences. A sudden sensation may arise from the body itself.

And not every intuitive impression needs to be given an immediate spiritual interpretation.

Discernment is therefore an important part of my spiritual work.

It involves remaining observant, grounded and willing to question an impression rather than forcing it to mean something.

For me, genuine spiritual development is not about assigning spiritual significance to everything we encounter.

It is about developing greater awareness, understanding and responsibility in how we interpret our experiences.

Your Own Spiritual Awareness

You do not need to be a professional medium to become more attentive to your intuition or to explore your own spiritual beliefs and experiences.

But neither should you feel that you must see, hear or physically sense something extraordinary to be spiritually connected.

We are all individuals.

Our understanding develops differently, and comparison rarely serves our growth.

Sometimes the most meaningful beginning is simply to observe.

To become aware of what you experience without immediately judging, dismissing or exaggerating it.

To recognise patterns whilst remaining open to ordinary explanations.

And to allow understanding to develop with time.

This is one of the reasons I have created Psychic Ask Away.

A dedicated extension of my work through WalkswithSpirit, where I can share more of my understanding of mediumship, the clairs, spiritual development, Spirit communication and the experiences that have shaped my own journey.

My intention is not simply to offer spiritual guidance, but to encourage a deeper understanding of the spiritual subjects so many people are curious about.

And perhaps to offer a little insight into the extraordinary variety of experiences that form part of my everyday work.

For me, the spiritual world has never been distant from the human experience.

It is something I have spent my life learning to understand, work alongside and communicate through.

And there is still so much I wish to share.
