Why Doesn’t Spirit Always Tell Us What We Want to Know?
Understanding divine timing, the wisdom of Spirit, and why the guidance we receive may be exactly what our soul needs before the answers we seek.
Dear Sweet Friends 🤍
Have you ever asked Spirit or the Universe for an answer and wondered why it hasn’t arrived?
Perhaps there is something you desperately want to understand.
A relationship you cannot make sense of. A decision you are struggling to make. A loss that has left you searching for reassurance. Or a situation that seems to remain unresolved, no matter how much you pray, ask or seek guidance.
You know what you want answered.
You may even believe that receiving that one answer would bring you peace, clarity or the ability to move forward.
And yet, when you seek spiritual guidance, something entirely different comes forward.
Why?
Because what we believe we need most is not always what our soul needs first.
This is something I have come to understand through my work as a Psychic Medium and Seer, and it is a teaching I feel is deeply important to share.
Spirit Does Not Ignore What Matters to You
I want to make something very clear.
When the guidance we receive differs from what we have asked for, I do not believe this means Spirit has ignored us.
Quite the opposite.
In my spiritual understanding, Spirit and the Universe are aware of the greater picture, including the experiences, lessons and stages of development that form part of our soul’s journey.
We, however, are often focused upon the immediate circumstances of our lives.
And understandably so.
When something is causing us pain, uncertainty or emotional distress, we naturally want that situation resolved.
We want the answer.
We want the reassurance.
We want to know what happens next.
But what if receiving that answer immediately meant overlooking something essential?
What if the very experience we are trying to move beyond contains an understanding that we have not yet recognised?
Sometimes the guidance we receive is not a diversion from what we seek. It is part of the journey towards it.
There Are Stages Our Soul Must Travel Through
Imagine standing at the beginning of a staircase.
You can see where you want to arrive. You know the destination, and you may feel desperately impatient to reach it.
But between where you stand and where you wish to be are steps that must first be taken.
Each step offers something.
An experience.
A realisation.
A lesson.
An opportunity to release an old belief, recognise a repeating pattern, develop greater self-worth or understand a situation from a different perspective.
And although we may wish to leap directly to the top, doing so could mean missing the very understanding that would allow us to appreciate, sustain or make sense of what awaits us.
This is how I often understand spiritual guidance.
Spirit may bring forward what needs to be recognised, understood or addressed now, before revealing more about the matter we originally came to explore.
It is not necessarily a refusal to answer.
Nor is it a dismissal of our longing.
It is guidance that, in my experience, can unfold in stages.
And sometimes those stages are far more important than we initially realise.
What We Want Can Distract Us From What We Need to Learn
There is another aspect of this that I believe deserves careful consideration.
Sometimes we become so focused upon obtaining a particular answer or outcome that we unintentionally overlook the deeper lessons unfolding around us.
We may desperately want to know whether a relationship will work, without recognising the importance of learning to value ourselves within that relationship.
We may want reassurance about our future, while overlooking something in our present circumstances that needs our attention.
We may long for a particular opportunity, without recognising that an existing pattern or limitation is preventing us from moving forward with confidence.
Or we may want to understand why something happened, before we have fully acknowledged how that experience has affected us.
In these situations, the answer we seek may be only one part of a much larger picture.
And if we were given precisely what we wanted, exactly when we demanded it, would we necessarily recognise the learning that was waiting for us?
Would we pause to examine our own needs, choices and patterns?
Or would we simply rush towards the outcome, relieved that our immediate question had been answered?
Sometimes our desire for an answer is so strong that we risk overlooking the very experiences that are helping us grow.
This does not mean that every painful experience is necessary, deserved or spiritually arranged. Nor should anybody remain in a harmful situation believing they must endure it to learn a lesson.
Rather, I believe there can be opportunities for understanding within the circumstances we encounter, and spiritual guidance may help us recognise them.
Why I Never Ask Why Someone Needs Spiritual Counselling
This brings me to something very personal about the way I work.
When somebody books a Spiritual Counselling Session with me, I never ask why they need me.
I do not begin by requesting an explanation of their circumstances or asking them to identify the question they most desperately want answered.
This is intentional.
Through my experience as a Psychic Medium and Seer, I have learned to trust the process of receiving spiritual information without first being directed towards a particular subject.
I trust Spirit to bring through what that person’s soul most needs in that moment.
And sometimes, what comes forward is very different from what the person expected.
I may receive information concerning a relationship, a past experience, a present challenge or something connected to their spiritual development.
There may be something they need to recognise about themselves.
Something they have been avoiding.
A pattern that continues to repeat.
An emotional experience that needs acknowledging.
Or an aspect of their life that requires greater understanding before they can move forward.
What is especially meaningful to me is that the information can emerge without the client first explaining the circumstances behind their appointment.
And often, as the session unfolds, the relevance of that guidance becomes clearer.
The question they arrived with has not necessarily been forgotten.
Instead, we may be exploring something that needs attention before the original question can be understood more fully.
That distinction matters enormously to me.
The Difference Between What We Want and What We Most Need
Let me offer a simple example.
Imagine somebody desperately wants to know whether a particular person will return to their life.
That question may occupy their thoughts every day.
They may believe that knowing the answer will finally allow them to feel secure.
But imagine that, during spiritual counselling, the guidance instead concerns their own sense of worth, their fear of abandonment or a pattern of relationships in which they have repeatedly overlooked their own needs.
Initially, they might wonder why their original question has not been answered.
Yet perhaps understanding those deeper patterns is the very thing that will help them make healthier choices, regardless of whether that person returns.
The guidance has not dismissed the relationship.
It has addressed something that may be more important to their wellbeing and personal development at that moment.
The answer they wanted concerned another person’s actions. The understanding they needed concerned their own life.
And that understanding may ultimately change the significance of the original question altogether.
This is an illustrative example, but it reflects the wider principle I am sharing.
Sometimes we seek an answer about our circumstances when the deeper invitation is to understand ourselves.
Divine Timing Is Not the Same as Being Denied
We often hear people speak about divine timing.
But I think it is important to understand what that means within spiritual practice.
For me, divine timing is not simply the idea that we must wait patiently and hope something eventually happens.
It is the understanding that our journey may unfold through stages of awareness, experience and development.
There may be things we need to recognise before another aspect of our journey becomes clear.
There may be decisions we need to make, responsibilities we need to accept or changes we need to initiate.
And there may be moments when the most meaningful guidance concerns the present rather than the future.
What needs your attention today may be preparing you to understand what you are asking about tomorrow.
That does not mean every desired outcome is destined to happen, or that waiting guarantees we will receive precisely what we want.
Nor do I believe we should put our lives on hold while waiting for a spiritual answer.
We still have free will.
We still make choices.
And we remain responsible for how we respond to the circumstances of our lives.
But I do believe that guidance can help us recognise the significance of the stage we are currently experiencing, rather than becoming so preoccupied with our destination that we overlook the journey itself.
My Responsibility as a Psychic Medium and Seer
There is something I feel very strongly about.
My responsibility as a Psychic Medium and Seer is not to manufacture the answer someone wishes to hear, but to communicate the messages I receive from Spirit with love, integrity and honesty.
That responsibility is central to everything I do.
I cannot simply decide what information should come forward because I know somebody desperately wants a particular answer.
Nor would I wish to offer reassurance that I have not genuinely received.
When information comes through unexpectedly, I believe it deserves to be communicated with care, even when its relevance is not immediately understood.
Sometimes the meaning becomes apparent during the session.
Sometimes it requires reflection.
And sometimes an impression may remain unclear.
I believe honesty includes acknowledging that uncertainty.
But I also believe it is important to recognise that an unexpected message is not automatically an irrelevant one.
In my experience, some of the most meaningful moments within spiritual counselling arise when information is brought forward that the person had not anticipated discussing.
And sometimes it is precisely that information which helps them understand why they have been struggling to move forward.
There Is More to My Work Than Mediumship
Although connecting with loved ones in Spirit is an important part of my work, it is not the entirety of what I do.
As a Psychic Medium and Seer, my work encompasses many forms of spiritual guidance, exploration and development.
Through WalkswithSpirit, I offer mediumship, spiritual counselling, spiritual healing and meditation, spiritual life coaching, Akashic Records and past-life exploration, Spirit Guide identification, and spiritual awakening and development.
Each of these offers a different form of spiritual exploration.
Some people come seeking connection with loved ones who have passed.
Others wish to understand themselves more deeply, explore their spiritual abilities, examine recurring patterns or receive guidance during an important period of change.
And some are beginning to recognise that their spiritual journey extends far beyond the questions they originally believed they needed answered.
For me, this is why spiritual work cannot be reduced to simply predicting an outcome or delivering a message from somebody who has died.
It can also involve understanding where we are within our own journey, what we are learning and what may need our attention before we move forward.
What If the Answer Still Doesn’t Come?
I also want to address something important.
There may be occasions when a particular answer or communication does not come through during a reading.
I would never want somebody to believe this means Spirit has abandoned them, that their needs are unimportant or that they have somehow failed spiritually.
Neither would I claim to know with certainty why every unanswered question remains unanswered.
My belief in spiritual timing does not mean that I can promise a particular message will arrive at some future point.
What I can do is approach the information I receive with honesty and compassion.
And encourage people to remain open to what may be meaningful without feeling obliged to accept something that does not resonate with their own experience.
Our spiritual beliefs should offer opportunities for understanding, not create fear, dependence or a sense that we are being punished.
The Greater Good of What Is Needed Now
Perhaps this is the part of the teaching I most want you to understand.
Spirit does not, in my understanding, disregard what we are seeking simply because something different is brought forward.
Sometimes the guidance addresses what needs attention for our greater good in the present moment.
Not necessarily what would bring the quickest relief.
Not necessarily what would satisfy our curiosity.
And not always what we would have chosen to explore.
But something that may help us recognise where we are, what we are experiencing and what we need to understand before taking another step.
The deeper significance may not always be apparent immediately.
Yet, through my years of spiritual work, I have repeatedly experienced how unexpected information can lead to meaningful recognition and understanding.
And this has reinforced my belief that we must not become so attached to the answer we desire that we overlook the guidance being offered along the way.
Sometimes what we seek is further along the journey, while what we need is waiting to be understood at the very step upon which we are standing.
A Final Thought From Me
Dear Sweet Friends,
If there is one thing I would love you to take from this teaching, it is this:
The guidance we receive is not always the answer we have been asking for, but it may be the understanding we need before that answer can truly serve us.
I believe Spirit and the Universe work with a greater understanding of our soul’s journey than we can always recognise from our present circumstances.
And although we may desperately wish to move straight towards the answer, sometimes there are stages of awareness, experiences and important lessons that deserve our attention first.
Not because our longing has been ignored.
Not because our question is unimportant.
But because what needs to be addressed now may hold the greatest significance for our next step.
So perhaps, alongside asking Spirit for the answer you seek, you might also ask:
What is it that I most need to understand at this moment?
What am I overlooking because I am so focused upon a particular outcome?
And what might this stage of my journey be inviting me to recognise?
You may discover that the most meaningful guidance is not always about reaching the destination more quickly.
Sometimes it is about understanding why the steps along the way matter.
And that understanding can be a gift in itself.
For those discovering my work through Psychic Ask Away | Spirit & Soul, you are warmly invited to join me at WalkswithSpirit, where I share my personal spiritual guidance, teachings, experiences with my Spirit Guides and opportunities for deeper spiritual exploration.
And to my wonderful WalkswithSpirit Collective, I would love to hear your reflections.
Have you ever been so focused upon receiving one particular answer that you only later recognised the importance of something else you needed to understand first?
With love xxx
